Der Hüttensänger ist in Nordamerika ein beliebtes Symbol des Glücks. Nachdem seine Bestände durch Lebensraumverlust und Konkurrenz durch eingeführte Arten zurückgegangen waren, erholten sie sich dank einer groß angelegten Nistkasten-Kampagne von Bürgerwissenschaftlern deutlich. Diese sanften Drosseln bilden im Winter lockere Schwärme und drängen sich bei Kälteeinbrüchen gemeinsam in Nistkästen zusammen.
