Great Crested Grebe

Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus) is a large 46–51 cm, elegant grebe of Eurasia, Africa, and Australasia. Breeding plumage: elaborate chestnut and black head crest and ruff; white face; reddish-pink bill. Inhabits large freshwater lakes and reservoirs; winters on coastal seas. Wingspan to 90 cm. Famous for mirror-display courtship dance.

Least Grebe

Least Grebe (Tachybaptus dominicus) is the smallest New World grebe at 21–27 cm. Dark grey overall in breeding plumage with yellow eye, blackish cap, and short bill. Inhabits small freshwater ponds, ditches, and marshes from the southern USA through Central and South America to northern Argentina. Feeds on small fish and aquatic invertebrates.
