Red-moustached Fruit-dove (Ptilinopus mercierii), 27 cm. Green with a red moustachial streak and orange underparts; endemic to the Marquesas Islands. Last confirmed on Nuku Hiva and Hiva Oa. Possibly Extinct; last reliably recorded in the 1970s. Threatened by introduced rats and cats.

Tambourine Dove

Small dove, 22–24 cm; male has strikingly white face, forehead, and breast contrasting with dark brown upperparts; female is browner. Inhabits rainforest, gallery forest, and dense woodland from Sierra Leone to Uganda, Angola, and South Africa. Granivore of seeds on the forest floor. Least Concern.
