Inland Dotterel: 19–23 cm, cryptically patterned brown Australian plover with a bold black Y-shaped breast-band and white supercilium. Resident in arid and semi-arid stone plains, gibber desert, and dry lake beds of interior Australia. Crepuscular and nocturnal insectivore. Nomadic. Walks erect with characteristic rapid run. Rarely near water.
