How to Tell Them Apart
Hill Partridge
Male has orange-rufous face, white-spotted black throat collar, grey breast, and chestnut flanks streaked white on dark brown back. Female has brown face with buff streaking, less vivid collar.
Mountain Bamboo-partridge
Chestnut-brown upperparts with grey crown; white supercilium; black-spotted rufous-orange flanks and breast; white belly; rufous tail. Sexes similar; male with small tarsal spur. Endemic to South and Southeast Asia.
