紫胸太阳天使蜂鸟分布于厄瓜多尔南部和秘鲁北部的安第斯山脉。雄鸟胸部呈闪亮的紫色，体羽绿色。栖息于高山云雾林，以花蜜为食，也取食小型昆虫。属安第斯山脉高地的特有蜂鸟。
