Định Nghĩa
The maximum population size a habitat can sustain indefinitely given available food, water, and space.
Giải Thích Chi Tiết
Carrying capacity (K) is a central concept in population ecology and forms the upper limit in logistic population growth models. For birds it is set primarily by food availability in winter (the period of greatest mortality in most temperate species) and by nesting site availability in cavity nesters. Habitat management to increase K — by planting food-bearing shrubs or installing nest boxes — is a primary tool in conservation of declining farmland and woodland species.
