Chionidae

Sheathbills; 2 species forming the only bird family endemic to the Antarctic and sub-Antarctic regions. All-white; scavengers at penguin and seabird colonies. Bills protected by a horny sheath (giving the family its name). Walk on land rather than swim. Aggressive and opportunistic feeders.
