Asian Dowitcher
Asian Dowitcher: 33–36 cm, large all-dark dowitcher with a straight blunt-tipped bill and black breeding plumage. Breeds in scattered colonies on Mongolian steppe lakes and Siberian rivers; winters on muddy estuaries and mangrove coasts of South and Southeast Asia. NT. Feeds by deep sewing-machine probing in soft mud. Limited breeding range.

NT. Threatened by introduced yellow crazy ants and habitat modification. Sedentary island endemic. Invertebrate feeder.
