Talaud Rail
Talaud Rail (Gymnocrex talaudensis) is a poorly-known rail endemic to the Talaud Islands in the northern Moluccas, Indonesia. Similar to Blue-faced Rail; brown above with some rufous tones; bare facial skin. Inhabits forest and scrub on small islands. Known from very few specimens.
Austral Rail
Austral Rail (Rallus antarcticus), 19 cm. Brown with dark streaks above; grey breast and barred flanks. Found in dense reed-marsh of southern Chile and adjacent Argentina south to Tierra del Fuego. Omnivore. Endangered; drainage of southern marshes and livestock impacts.
