About These Birds
Eastern Bluebird
The eastern bluebird is a beloved symbol of happiness in North America. Once declining due to habitat loss and competition from introduced species, populations recovered dramatically thanks to a massive citizen science nest box campaign. These gentle thrushes form loose winter flocks and huddle together in nest boxes during cold snaps.
Bare-eyed Thrush
The Bare-eyed Thrush is a thrush of the family Turdidae found in dry woodland and scrub across East Africa, from Somalia to Tanzania. Weighing about 49.3g with a wingspan of 21.6cm, it has a distinctive yellow bare eye-ring. It forages on the ground for invertebrates and feeds on berries and fruit in the forest understory.
