Antipodean Albatross
Antipodean Albatross, 100–117 cm, wingspan 250–320 cm, breeds on Antipodes and Campbell Islands south of New Zealand. Males are whiter than females; brown-mantled in younger birds. Circumnavigates the Southern Ocean. Endangered; declining due to longline bycatch, plastic ingestion, and climate effects.
Salvin's Albatross
Salvin's Albatross, 90–95 cm, wingspan 256 cm, breeds only on the Bounty and Snares Islands of New Zealand. Grey head with darker cheeks, yellow-and-grey bill. Pelagic across the South Pacific; often encountered off the Pacific coast of South America. Near Threatened; subject to longline bycatch mortality.
