Rufous-chested Plover (Charadrius modestus) is a medium 22–24 cm plover of South American grasslands. Sandy-brown above; distinctive chestnut breast-band in breeding plumage; white supercilium. Inhabits open short grasslands, steppe, and coastal flats from southern South America; winters north to southern Brazil. Migratory. Feeds on invertebrates.
Pied Plover
Pied Plover: 22–24 cm, distinctive South American lapwing with bold black-and-white plumage, red facial skin, and long red legs. Inhabits open sandy riverbanks and gravel bars of major rivers from Venezuela south to Argentina. Feeds on invertebrates and small vertebrates. Largely resident; some local seasonal movements. Not globally threatened.
