The Barred Eagle-owl is a Near Threatened large owl of the family Strigidae found in primary and tall secondary forests of Southeast Asia, including Sumatra, Borneo, and the Malay Peninsula. Weighing about 1,113g with a wingspan of 66.4cm, it has distinctive horizontal barring and prominent ear tufts. It hunts at night, taking large insects, small mammals, and birds.
