A medium-sized frogmouth (24-27 cm) found across the Philippines in lowland and montane forests. Rufous-brown plumage with fine white spots. Nocturnal insectivore. Sexually dimorphic, with rufous and brown morphs. Found from sea level to 2,000 m elevation.
