A poorly known medium-sized tinamou with brown plumage and conspicuously grey legs. Restricted to the tepui region of southern Venezuela and adjacent northern Brazil. Known from very few observations. Forages terrestrially in dense undergrowth of montane forest.

Dark brown upperparts with blackish barring. Diagnostic gray legs distinguish it from red-legged congeners. Throat whitish; breast rufous-brown; belly pale. Crown darker; sexes similar.

Habitat & Range

Montane forest and shrubby tepui slopes at 600–1,800 m on isolated table-mountains in southern Venezuela and adjacent northern Brazil. Restricted range; known from very few locations.
