Limpkin (Aramus guarauna) is a large 64–73 cm wading bird of tropical American wetlands, the sole member of family Aramidae. Brown with white streaking; long slightly decurved bill; hunched posture. Inhabits freshwater marshes, wooded swamps, and river margins from Florida south to Argentina. Feeds almost exclusively on large apple snails.
