Peg-billed Finch

The Peg-billed Finch (<em>Acanthidops bairdi</em>) is a passerine bird in the family Thraupidae (Tanagers). Detailed plumage and behavioral descriptions of this species are limited in the available literature. The species is typically associated with forest and grassland habitats, often occurring at higher elevations within its restricted range in Central America. It constructs a cup nest (CP type) and typically lays 4 eggs per clutch; incubation lasts approximately 12–14 days. The Peg-billed Finch is classified as Least Concern by the IUCN.
