Chestnut-headed Flufftail (Sarothrura lugens), 14 cm. Male has a bright chestnut head and neck; dark brown body with white streaks. Inhabits high-altitude grassland and montane forest edges from Cameroon to Ethiopia. Omnivore. Least Concern; uncommon but widespread at elevation.

Slender-billed Flufftail (Sarothrura watersi), 14 cm. Very poorly known; brown with a thin bill adapted for probing. Endemic to eastern Madagascar, recorded from a handful of wetland localities. Omnivore. Endangered; extremely rarely recorded; habitat loss continues.
