63 cm. Black and white; orange caruncles. Endemic to Auckland Islands, New Zealand subantarctic. Vulnerable; total population estimated at only a few thousand. Feeds on fish and invertebrates in surrounding cold ocean waters. Non-migratory; restricted to the island group.

63 cm. Black above; white underparts; white ear tufts in breeding; long white filoplumes on neck. Resident across South and Southeast Asia in freshwater lakes, rivers, and estuaries. Near Threatened; declining due to wetland loss. Feeds on small fish; colonial breeder in trees.
