Critically Endangered; world population only ~440 birds. Inhabits rocky shores and sandy beaches on the Chatham Islands.

Inhabits rocky coasts, offshore islands, and rocky headlands around the entire Australian continent. Feeds on molluscs, echinoderms, and worms.
