About These Birds
sakallı akbaba
The Bearded Vulture, or Lammergeier, is a spectacular high-mountain raptor found from the Pyrenees and Africa to Central and South Asia. Adults are orange-buff below, dark above, with a long diamond-shaped tail and striking beard of dark bristles below the bill. Uniquely, it feeds almost exclusively on bones, dropping them from height onto rocks to access the nutritious marrow.
Black-and-chestnut Eagle
The Black-and-chestnut Eagle is an endangered large raptor of humid montane forests along the Andes, from Venezuela to Argentina. It has striking black upperparts and chestnut underparts with fine barring. It preys on medium-sized arboreal mammals, large birds, and reptiles, and is threatened by deforestation and hunting throughout its range.
