About These Birds
Plain-breasted Ground Dove
Very small dove, 14–17 cm, plain grey-brown with minimal scaling, a pale breast, and a small reddish bill. Inhabits open savanna, grassland, and farmland from Mexico to Bolivia, Brazil, and Trinidad. Granivore of tiny seeds on the ground. Often overlooked due to small size and cryptic plumage. Least Concern.
Enggano Cuckoo-Dove
Slender cuckoo-dove, 32–35 cm, uniform warm cinnamon-rufous with minimal barring and a relatively short tail. Restricted to Enggano Island off the southwestern coast of Sumatra. Inhabits dense lowland forest. Frugivore. Vulnerable due to extremely small range and ongoing forest loss on the island.
