The Band-tailed Seedeater is a small finch of the family Thraupidae found in open grassland, scrub, and agricultural areas in the Andes and adjacent lowlands. Weighing about 13.5g with a wingspan of 13.1cm, it has a distinctive pale band across the base of its tail. It feeds primarily on grass seeds on or near the ground.
Black-cowled Saltator
The Black-cowled Saltator is a large, robust saltator of dry forest edges and scrub in western Ecuador and northwestern Peru, with a distinctive black hood contrasting with grey upperparts and white underparts. It inhabits thorn scrub, dry deciduous forests, and their edges. It feeds on large insects, seeds, and fruits, using its stout bill to crack open hard-shelled seeds.
