Schlegel's Francolin

A small Phasianidae francolin (~237 g) of rocky, grassy slopes and wooded savanna in Central and East Africa. Plumage is finely barred and streaked brown. Often found at higher elevations than related species. Feeds on seeds, berries, and small invertebrates. Least Concern; range largely away from intense agricultural pressure.

Altai Snowcock

The largest snowcock (~2.77 kg), family Phasianidae, of alpine scree and subalpine meadows in the Altai and Tian Shan ranges of Central Asia. Heavily built, grey and white with rusty-brown markings. Feeds on roots, bulbs, and alpine plants. Forms small flocks outside breeding season. Least Concern.
