About These Birds
Black-faced Rufous-warbler
The Black-faced Rufous-warbler is a small, secretive warbler with rich rufous-brown upperparts and a striking black face and throat, making it one of the more distinctively marked African warblers. It inhabits dense montane forest undergrowth and bamboo thickets in east-central Africa, particularly in the Albertine Rift region. It forages skulkingly close to the ground, searching leaf litter and dense vegetation for small insects.
Black-backed Cisticola
The Black-backed Cisticola is a small, grassland-dwelling warbler found in the damp grassy areas and wetland margins of West and Central Africa. It has a black back with buff streaking and warm rufous tones on the head and wings. It perches atop grass stems, singing persistently, and feeds on insects and small seeds.
