About These Birds

Sichuan Partridge

A medium-sized partridge (~400 g) of family Phasianidae, with a rich rufous breast and finely patterned brown upperparts. Endemic to montane forests in Sichuan Province, southwestern China at 600–2,500 m elevation. Forages on the forest floor for seeds, berries, and invertebrates. Vulnerable; restricted range, habitat degraded by logging and agricultural encroachment in mountain areas.

Indian Peafowl

The Indian peafowl is the national bird of India and one of the most spectacular birds in the world. The peacock's enormous train, which can span over two meters, is used in elaborate courtship displays where the feathers are fanned and vibrated. Despite their size, peafowl can fly short distances and roost in tall trees.
