Forages on the forest floor for seeds, berries, and invertebrates. Least Concern; found in relatively intact montane forest within a restricted range; protected by rugged terrain.

The peacock's enormous train, which can span over two meters, is used in elaborate courtship displays where the feathers are fanned and vibrated.
