Pluvianidae

Egyptian Plover; a monotypic family with a single species found in equatorial Africa. Distinctive pied bird famous in antiquity for reportedly cleaning crocodile teeth. Buries its eggs in sand to incubate them using body moisture in hot sun. Related distantly to coursers and pratincoles.
