Neosittidae

Sittellas; ~5 species endemic to Australia and New Guinea. Creep headfirst down tree trunks probing bark for insects—a behavior convergent with nuthatches in the Northern Hemisphere. Plumage often streaked grey and white. Gregarious; travel in noisy flocks through woodland.
