Dasyornithidae

Bristlebirds; 3 species endemic to Australia—the Eastern, Western, and Rufous Bristlebird. Large, skulking ground-dwellers of coastal heathland and dense scrub. All three species are threatened or vulnerable. Named for their bristle-like rictal feathers. Rarely fly; run swiftly through dense vegetation.
