African Collared-dove

Small dove, 26–29 cm, pale pinkish-grey with a black hindneck collar and white tail corners. Native to arid zones of sub-Saharan Africa from Senegal to Somalia and south to Tanzania. The ancestor of the domesticated Barbary Dove (ring-necked dove). Granivore of grass seeds and small grains in dry savanna, farmland, and desert edge. Least Concern.

African Green-pigeon

Medium green-pigeon, 27–30 cm, bright green with a yellow-green head, yellowish underparts, and orange orbital skin (hence 'calvus' = bald). Widespread across sub-Saharan Africa from Senegambia to Ethiopia and south to KwaZulu-Natal, in woodland, savanna forest, and gardens. Frugivore of figs and wild berries. Least Concern.
