The rock pigeon is the ancestor of all domestic pigeon breeds and one of the most abundant birds in cities worldwide. Medium green-pigeon, 27–30 cm, bright green with a grey head and yellowish wash on the underparts. Confined to the Comoro Islands (Grand Comore, Mohéli, Anjouan) in the Indian Ocean. Inhabits forest and forest edge. Frugivore of figs and berries. Near Threatened due to ongoing deforestation on the small Comoran islands.
