About These Birds
New Britain Bronzewing
Medium-large terrestrial pigeon, 30–33 cm, similar to New Guinea Bronzewing but with a white head (not just forehead). Confined to lowland forests of New Britain in the Bismarck Archipelago. Feeds on seeds and fallen fruits on the forest floor. Least Concern.
White-winged Collared-dove
Medium dove, 28–31 cm, pale grey with extensive white in the wings (visible in flight), a black hindneck collar, and pink breast. Restricted to the arid Horn of Africa, primarily Ethiopia and Somalia, in dry thorn-scrub and semi-desert. Granivore of grass seeds. Little-known and rarely photographed. Least Concern.
