About These Birds
Black-necklaced Scimitar-babbler
The Black-necklaced Scimitar-babbler is a medium-sized babbler with rusty-red flanks, white underparts, a long decurved bill, and a distinctive dark necklace across the upper breast. It inhabits dense montane forests and bamboo thickets of Taiwan at elevations between 1,000 and 2,500 meters. It forages in dense undergrowth, probing leaf litter and bark with its curved bill for insects and invertebrates.
Black Babbler
The Black Babbler is a large, entirely dark babbler of the rainforest understory in West and Central Africa. It has entirely glossy black plumage and forages in small noisy groups on the forest floor and in dense undergrowth, feeding on insects, seeds, and small fruits. It is more often heard than seen.
