The Black-and-white Tanager is a striking tanager found in deciduous forests and scrub on the western slopes of the Andes in Ecuador and Peru. Males have bold black-and-white plumage with a white wing patch. It forages in the forest canopy for fruit and insects, often in mixed-species flocks.
