Originally from South Asia, it has been introduced to tropical regions worldwide where it outcompetes native birds for nest cavities. Despite its invasive status, the myna is an intelligent and charismatic bird capable of mimicking human speech.

Bare-eyed Myna

The Bare-eyed Myna is a Near Threatened starling of the family Sturnidae endemic to the Sula Islands of Indonesia. Weighing about 248g with a wingspan of 29cm, it is a large myna with characteristic bare skin around the eyes. It inhabits forest edges and secondary growth where it forages for fruit and insects.
