About These Birds
Little Ringed Plover
Little Ringed Plover: 14–17 cm, slender Old World plover with a single black breast-band, yellow eye-ring, and pink legs. Breeds on gravel riverbeds and sandy lake margins across Eurasia to New Guinea; winters in Africa and South Asia. Insectivorous. Long-distance migrant. Distinguished from Ringed Plover by yellow eye-ring and lack of wingbar.

Southern Lapwing: 32–38 cm, the most familiar South American lapwing with a grey head, pinkish-grey upperparts, metallic green wing spurs, and a distinctive crest. Common resident from Colombia south to Patagonia in open grassland, farmland, and urban parks. Insectivorous. Highly vocal and territorial. Expanding its range northward.
