Collared Plover
Collared Plover: 14–16 cm, small South American plover with a black breast-band, pale rufous hind-crown, and pinkish-white legs. Inhabits sandy riverbanks, lakeshores, and coastal beaches from Mexico south through Central and South America to Argentina. Insectivorous. Resident and largely sedentary. Often nests on gravel bars in large rivers.
