Double-banded Plover: 17–19 cm, New Zealand plover with two dark breast-bands, the upper black and lower chestnut in breeding plumage. Breeds on shingly riverbeds and alpine herbfields of both main islands of New Zealand; migrates to southeastern Australia and Pacific islands in winter. Insectivorous. Regional migrant.
