About These Birds

Red-billed Partridge

A small partridge (~225 g) of family Phasianidae, distinguished by its bright red bill on dark plumage. Endemic to montane forests of Sumatra at 700–2,000 m elevation. Inhabits the forest floor and dense undergrowth of subtropical highland forest. Forages for seeds, berries, and invertebrates. Least Concern; restricted to Sumatran mountains but currently stable with sufficient forest cover remaining.

Indian Peafowl

The Indian peafowl is the national bird of India and one of the most spectacular birds in the world. The peacock's enormous train, which can span over two meters, is used in elaborate courtship displays where the feathers are fanned and vibrated. Despite their size, peafowl can fly short distances and roost in tall trees.
