Sunbittern, 43–48 cm, is a striking heron-like bird of tropical American rainforest streams, sole member of its family. Cryptic brown and grey above; but when wings spread in display, reveals spectacular 'eye' patterns of orange, black, and white. Piscivore and invertivore along forest rivers.
