About These Birds

White-crowned Lapwing: 28–30 cm, large African lapwing with a white crown, long yellow facial wattles, and yellow-tipped wing spurs. Resident along large sandy rivers in central and eastern Africa from Nigeria to Mozambique. Feeds on invertebrates on exposed sandbars. Strongly associated with riverine habitat. Sedentary.
