The rock pigeon is the ancestor of all domestic pigeon breeds and one of the most abundant birds in cities worldwide. Highly abundant across South America from Colombia to southern Argentina and Chile, the Caribbean and Galápagos. Granivore of seeds. One of South America's most numerous doves, forming huge flocks.
