The Royal Spoonbill (Platalea regia) is a large, elegant wading bird of the family Threskiornithidae, native to Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands. It is one of two spoonbill species found in Australasia, distinguished from the Yellow-billed Spoonbill by its black bill, face, and legs, as well as by its breeding plumage features.
