Blackish Rail (Pardirallus nigricans), 25 cm. Dark grey-black overall with a red bill base; inhabits freshwater marshes and rice paddies of South America east of the Andes. Omnivore: invertebrates and seeds in wet vegetation. Least Concern; common in suitable wetland.
