Hudsonian Whimbrel
Hudsonian Whimbrel: 40–46 cm, recently split from Eurasian Whimbrel; breeds in subarctic North America. Similar to Eurasian Whimbrel but with a darker rump and slightly different call. Winters along both American coasts south to southern South America. Feeds on mudflat invertebrates and berries on migration. Long-distance migrant.
Sulawesi Woodcock
Sulawesi Woodcock: 32–36 cm, woodcock endemic to montane forest of Sulawesi, Indonesia. Nocturnal with cryptic brown plumage. Inhabits mossy forest above 1,000 m; probes leaf litter and soft soil for invertebrates. NT. Threatened by logging and agricultural conversion of highland forest. Sedentary island endemic.
