Tsingy Forest Rail
Tsingy Forest Rail (Mentocrex beankaensis), 21 cm. Similar to Madagascar Forest Rail but adapted to the Tsingy limestone formations in western Madagascar. Cryptic brown plumage; red bill. Omnivore in dense karst forest undergrowth. Vulnerable; restricted to the Beanka forest and adjacent tsingy habitats.

Madagascar Flufftail (Sarothrura insularis), 15 cm. Brown above; white-spotted and streaked underparts. Endemic to Madagascar, inhabiting dense undergrowth of eastern rainforest and mid-altitude scrub. Omnivore. Least Concern; still relatively common in eastern forests.
