Tsingy Forest Rail
Tsingy Forest Rail (Mentocrex beankaensis), 21 cm. Similar to Madagascar Forest Rail but adapted to the Tsingy limestone formations in western Madagascar. Cryptic brown plumage; red bill. Omnivore in dense karst forest undergrowth. Vulnerable; restricted to the Beanka forest and adjacent tsingy habitats.
Streaky-breasted Flufftail
Streaky-breasted Flufftail (Sarothrura boehmi), 14 cm. Small rail with streaky brown-and-buff plumage; male has a rufous crown. Found in seasonally flooded grassland and swamps of the Congo Basin and East Africa. Omnivore. Least Concern; poorly known due to cryptic habits.
