Tsingy Forest Rail
Tsingy Forest Rail (Mentocrex beankaensis), 21 cm. Similar to Madagascar Forest Rail but adapted to the Tsingy limestone formations in western Madagascar. Cryptic brown plumage; red bill. Omnivore in dense karst forest undergrowth. Vulnerable; restricted to the Beanka forest and adjacent tsingy habitats.

Forbes's Forest Rail (Rallicula forbesi), 20 cm. Rich chestnut with white-spotted underparts; red bill. Endemic to higher mountains of New Guinea above 1,500 m. Inhabits moss-draped montane forest floor. Omnivore. Least Concern; difficult to observe but widespread.
